iRestore Hair Laser Review: Take control of your hair loss.

What is the iRestore Laser Hair Growth System?

This, my friends, is a fancy hair growth helmet, using cutting-edge Low Level Laser Therapy technology.

The action comes not from a potion, or a cream, serum, spray or shampoo: it comes from laser therapy!

Hair growth helmets powered by low level laser technology are making huge waves in the hair growth industry, and unlike most treatments besides Minoxidil and Finasterade, this technology is FDA approved for treatment of hair loss in both men and women. Sweet!

What on Earth is Laser Therapy?

hair loss helmetLow level laser therapy is a safe form of light and heat treatment for hair loss. Light therapy is indicated for genetic forms of hair loss common in both men and women, androgenetic alopecia, and pattern balding.

Low level laser therapy goes by several different names: cold laser, red light therapy, soft laser, biostimulation and photobiomodulation.

The laser light from this helmet penetrates the scalp, increases bloodflow around the hair follicles, and stimulates the many metabolic processes necessary for hair growth.

This improved cellular metabolism prevents the buildup of DHT, the testosterone byproduct hormone responsible for many forms of hair loss in both men and women.

This is a mechanical, not chemical, technique to block our common enemy, DHT. Thanks, science!

Light Therapy: the Science

While these devices are fairly new on the hair loss prevention scene, there is strong clinical research to support the efficacy of hair loss prevention through laser therapies like iRestore:

iRestore has been clinically studied and proven to promote hair regrowth in a recent 2017 study. In this 4-month clinical study, 100% of active device users saw visible improvement in hair growth with an average increase of 43.23% in hair count.

If you’ve read this blog, you’ll see that to date, I’ve mainly reviewed chemical and nutritional hair loss treatments.

So, there’s a lot to learn about these laser therapy devices because it’s such a radically different form of treatment than we’re all accustomed to.  I think it’s natural for most of us to assume hair loss has to be treated with some kind of oil, tincture, or liquid!

From everything I’ve read, for people with more money than time to dedicate to the task of regrowing their thinning hair, the low-level light therapy laser cap is worth the investment.

Best of all, the iRestore laser hair system can be used in conjunction with all of these chemical and nutritional hair growth products for maximum effect.

Who Should Try the iRestore Hair Growth Helmet?

The iRestore hair growth system is a treatment alternative for both men and women with extensive chemical and nutritional allergies.

These allergies can prevent some people suffering from hair loss from trying complex nutritional formulas or many herbal blends found in hair loss shampoos.

iRestore is also ideal for people with extremely sensitive skin who might react poorly to herbal and chemical topical solutions. There are many people who can’t tolerate various plant DHT blockers, as well as all the chemical byproducts that exist in medicinal shampoos and serums. Light therapy lets you sidestep that potential for allergic response entirely.

Hair growth helmets that use low level laser therapy are a drug-free alternative to stimulate hair follicles and stimulate rapid and lasting hair growth.

Hair growth helmets are also a mess-free treatment choice for those who might not identify with full-blown hair loss, but still wish to improve hair volume. Many people use these solely to improve hair density.

How to Use the iRestore Hair Laser:

The iRestore Laser Hair Growth System is recommended for use for a period of 25 minutes, every other day, on non-consecutive days.

Unlike many chemical and nutritional treatments that require daily or multi-daily use, this is something that won’t take up tremendous amounts of time, or daily attention.

The iRestore helmet is shipped with an A/C adapter, but you can purchase the optional battery pack to free you up to move around the house during the laser treatments. You really can just set it and forget it.

If you’re female, and if you’ve ever gotten your hair dyed or highlighted or permed, wearing this device feels similar to the helmet you wear at the salon while waiting for those things to set, except without the heat!

Why Choose iRestore?

If you’re gonna zap your head with lasers, don’t you want to make sure it’s 100% legit and risk free?

The iRestore is safe, and manufactured and certified with extremely strict security standards.  Users also describe it as lightweight and comfortable to wear.

Finally, the company offers a 6-month money-back guarantee. This gives you a chance to thoroughly test whether the iRestore works for you, and provides sustainable hair loss treatment in the long-term.

Very few products have this lengthy of a money-back guarantee, and it reflects confidence from the manufacturer of iRestore. If I’m going to be spending this much money on anything, I want some assurances that I will be able to return if it I’m not getting what I want out of it.

More importantly, most hair loss products SHOULD have this duration of guarantee due to the time it takes for hair to noticeably regrow: iRestore is one of few such products that reflects this reality in the terms of purchase.

Most importantly, it’s had some stunning results in clinical trials. I’ll let you enjoy the following infographic:

iRestore Pros:

  • 6 month money back guarantee – you can try it and get a refund!
  • promising clinical results
  • affordable product compared to other hair loss light therapy treatment alternatives
  • lightweight helmet
  • minimal time commitment for treatment

iRestore Cons:

  • Higher up front price than some other nutritional and chemical hair loss treatment alternatives
  • iRestore is not indicated for people with photosensitivity
  • iRestore does not fit comfortably on extremely large heads – most women won’t need to worry about this one 🙂

Have you tried the iRestore helmet? If so, please leave a comment here with your experience: I would love to hear from you!

Yours,

Penelope

  1. I haven’t come across this problem yet but my mum complains about this, perhaps it’s a age thing. A lot of male friends also have this issue, at a much younger age so I think this would be good for young men especially as lifestyles get more hectic and more people start to lose thier hair.

    • It’s definitely an age thing, specifically with our hormones that change over time as we age. And, hair loss is more common in men and women. But it’s great that there are tools, especially tech-heavy tools, to help us combat it and keep our hair!

  2. This is the first time I hear about the iRestore laser, and it sounds like it’s good and worth it. I just have one question. How long should I wait to see the results? I know there is a 6-month money back guarantee so I think I can give myself the time to wait for results but, is there an average time to start seeing hair growth?

    Thanks.

    • Thanks for the great question! It seems to be pretty individual, but some people notice results in a couple week. Most people will notice something in 6 weeks, which is long enough to complete a hair growth/loss cycle. The great thing about this product is that 6 months is more than enough time for everyone to see if it works for them, and if not, you can get your $ back. I’d say it’s definitely worth a shot!

  3. Hair loss is never a welcome condition but I think that’s it’s even tougher for women. I’ve read many studies that show that thick, shiny hair is one of the top physical attributes that men look for in women, right up there with the obvious ones. A few years ago I was diagnosed with alopecia which resulted in my having hair fall out in several patches. It seems to be getting better but my hair s taking forever to grow in. Do you think that this would be a good treatment for someone with my condition?

    • Yes, you should definitely try iRestore for alopecia.  And I agree 100% that hair loss is harder for women to deal with than men, because we’re held to more impossible standards of beauty. I always love when models choose to shave their heads and rock it super short or bald. I wonder if I’ll ever have the courage to do that! I suppose if my hair loss gets even more intense over time, it may be necessary. Until then, I will keep trying and keep reporting on all these products that help!

  4. Hi Penelope,
Loss of hair is not easy to assimilate, especially as a woman and in her youth. The truth was not aware that there was this product that uses the laser. I find it an extraordinary product that can help many people who qualify for their use. It should be very good to give the manufacturer a 6-month warranty. Thank you so much!

  5. Hi, Penelope!
Another great review! Thanks for sharing it with all of us! I didn’t know about this product before. It’s great that you help people and inform them about these products, issues with hair and how they can resolve problems with hair loss. I am sure this review can help people to decide if iRestore Hair Laser can be good for them.
    Thank you again!

  6. Hello
It’s funny because when I first started reading this I thought how could laser treatment help hair growth? When I think of laser treatment it’s always been for removal of something. Your explanation totally made sense as I read on. Have you found any customer reviews on this product?
I have to tell you your last con listed really made me laugh.
I did find this review very interesting, it’s always nice to know about these products for the future.

    • Thanks for the great comment – and yeah, normally the go-to laser treatment for hair is definitely not growth, but removal! Luckily, lasers are magical. There are many legit customer reviews over at Amazon.com – check it out!

  7. Wow, thanks Penelope for this useful information. I know someone who will greatly benefit from this. I also appreciate the info you gave about Laser Therapy. I shall forward this to a friend so I can convince him that there is an alternative to a possible surgery he intends to do =) Thanks Penelope. Very timely info =)

    • Great, thanks for passing it along! Yeah, this is DEFINITELY something to try before considering hairplugs or other hair restoration surgery!

  8. Wow! Never thought something like that even existed! Great to hear there aren’t potential health risks for the individual who uses it!

  9. I did not know the details around Laser Therapy and I have not seen this product before. It’s amazing how technology can also help with with this. Sometimes when it comes to technology that you have to use yourself, you tend to get a little bit skeptical (I have to be honest I’m a little afraid of these things). I’m happy to read that this product is safe, and manufactured and certified with extremely strict security standards. It gives me some comfort knowing that it’s a safe product.

    • Glad to share this info with you, and I agree completely that this is a fascinating use of technology. I’m saving my pennies so I can try it out, too!

  10. This is a wonderful idea indeed. I have so family and friends that would be very interested in the iRestore Hair Laser. Everyone that I know have hair loss wants it to regrow. They have tried different hair regrowth stuff including hair growth pills, hair oils and liquids. None of them ever work, so I think this is something that they could try. What is the earliest time period to see results?

    • This product is guaranteed for 6 months, so there is plenty of time to use it and see if it works. Some people claim to see results in as little as two weeks, although given the reality of hair loss cycles, it’s more realistic to expect to see results in 6 weeks or so. Thanks so much for passing this blog onto friends and family!

  11. Finally I have found a website with all the information that I was looking for.

I was really desperate in finding an article about iRestore laser hair growing helmet.

I found everything I needed to know about this subject.

    Thanks for your valuable information!

  12. Its great to know that a product like this comes with such a long warranty so that you can actually determine if it works, or if it causes problems.

I see that it is an every other day use, but was curious if it causes scalp tenderness?

    Thanks for the review!

    • The iRestore has been extensively tested for safety and none of the reviews I saw said anything about scalp tenderness. One of the reasons to pick a product like this, over a chemical alternative, is how unlikely a reaction is compared to an allergy to one of the many ingredients in some spray or shampoo.

  13. As a health coach, one of the many reasons for women to come to me is problems with thinning hair and hair that is falling out. It is a very stressful situation. Thank you for the great review of this product. I will definitely share with my clients who are sensitive to supplements and have thyroid issues.

    • So glad you can pass this info onto people who can use it. I can absolutely see thinning hair sending women to a health coach, even in the absence of any other symptoms. It’s good that there are options for people with sensitivities to drugs, herbs, and chemicals.

  14. Wow. it’s pretty expensive. What if it doesn’t work for me? Is there money back guaranteed? Will it work for my hair texture?

    • the cool thing about the laser therapy technology is that it works on all kinds of hair, and there is a guarantee if you don’t see results. thanks for the question!

  15. I am a mum of two kites and hardly get time to take care of my self. I am suffering from hair fall and this hamlet seems to be a great product for busy mums. Very nice and super product and very well explained article about all the features..

    • great point, Sarah! This is a great treatment option for busy moms, since you can set it and forget it, and there’s no concern about toxicity!

  16. Hey Penelope,

I was reading your reviews and noticed you had a lot of helpful information on regrowing your hair. There is some excellent information on your website.

However, I do have a question for you. I am interested in either getting this iRestore or the HairMax LaserComb. I am kind of leaning towards the iRestore even though it’s about $200 more.

What do you think are the pros and cons when you compare the HairMax and the iRestore. I’m ready to buy, but I would like your incite before I go ahead and make the purchase.

    • Hi Garen, thanks for the great question. There are some differences between the iRestore helmet and the HairMax Lasercomb. While both are based on the same low laser light therapy technology, the laser combs are shaped like a literal comb, and so you have to hold them in your hand during application of laser treatment. The helmet can go on your head without any further action required.

They both have good return policies, but iRestore’s is slightly better, it’s 100% money back after 6 months, whereas HairMax is 80% money back after 5 months.

HairMax products are less expensive than the iRestore and tend to go on sale more often. In fact, the combs are on sale right now, 15% off.

Come back and let us know which one you order. I’m leaning toward the iRestore as well, simply because you have 6 whole months to give it a whirl risk-free, and it takes less overall effort to complete treatment.

  17. Great product and great review from Penelope as always. iStore hair growth system looks amazing and great. It seems perfect for bust mums as they can use it whole working at home and definitely takes less effort than laser hair comb for sure. Very thorough and well explained review…keep up the good work Penelope..

    • Thanks for leaving your feedback, and I agree completely, the hair loss helmets are a more doable option for busy moms, since you can wear it for treatment and then go about your business.

  18. I really like this product. It gives you results and is not messy and doesn’t require much effort. What sucks for me though is I am photosensitive and I am epileptic so I could not use this product. That really broke my heart, but better to be safe than sorry. Thanks again for another great review!

  19. What a cool gadget! Restoring hair growth with laser technology is totally new to me. I like the 6 month money-back guarantee they have (you never know how well something works for you until you try). Thanks for laying out all the details so simply!
