HairMax LaserBand 82 Reviews – Worth the investment?

The LaserBand 82 by HairMax is a premier, cold laser device with a captivating design. It is the upgraded version of the popular LaserBand 41 by Hairmax (read my LaserBand 41 review here).

This crazy device looks like it’s straight out a science fiction film. But, in reality, it’s an FDA-cleared treatment for treat hair loss for both men and women.

Because the only other FDA-cleared treatments for hair loss are Minoxidil (for both men & women) and Propecia (for men only – this one’s FULL of awful side effects), lots of hair loss specialists have been jumping onto the laser treatment product bandwagon.

HairMax has brought some serious engineering game to the growing laser helmet and laser come industry. The 82 model is engineered for speed, effectiveness, comfort and ease of use.

How does the HairMax LaserBand 82 regrow hair?

Through photobiostimulation, the LaserBand 82 stimulates hair follicles at a cellular level to promote hair growth, reverse hair thinning, restore the natural growth cycle and helping to regrow denser, fuller hair.

The LaserBand 82 delivers therapeutic light energy through 82 medical-grade lasers (No LEDs).

HairMax laser devices utilize laser energy to stimulate the follicle to grow healthy new hair when you have androgenetic alopecia, also known as pattern baldness or thinning hair.

The HairMax laser devices work directly on the hair follicle, to provide the energy needed to support healthy hair growth, by helping to increase blood circulation to the follicle, to increase circulation and remove waste products.

Why LaserBand 82, instead of more affordable options?

The LaserBand 82 offers unique band design incorporates patented hair parting teeth which part your hair during treatment to allow optimal laser light delivery to your follicles.

The 3 elements for efficacy – the hair parting teeth, laser light intensity and laser light density work in unison to provide a highly effective treatment for hair loss and thinning hair. Comfortable, portable and lightweight for home use or while traveling.

This band offers a streamlined, premium hair loss treatment that works quickly and comfortably to help you regrow hair.

This is the top-of-the-line offering from the best known name in hair loss laser treatments. It’s the Rolls Royce of laser helmets: only the best for your head, ladies and gents!!

Who can use the HairMax LaserBand 82?

Adult men and women are both candidates for the HairMax LaserBand 82, to regrow their hair and prevent future hair loss.

The best results will be for men and women in early or moderate stages of hair loss, where it has just started thinning or shedding.

The Hairmax LaserBand 82 is a great alternative for women experiencing overall thinning of hair after menopause.

My hair is totally gone, should I use the HairMax LaserBand 82?

It depends on your situation, of course, but the best outcomes will be for those with mild to moderate hair loss or temporary hair loss.

In the words of HairMax:

While the HairMax laser devices can ‘awaken’ dormant hair follicles, once the hair follicle is no longer functioning, it cannot be revitalized.

SIdebar: I really wish more people knew they needed to be AGGRESSIVE at the first signs of hair loss. Once it’s gone gone, it’s REALLY gone gone.

Only weakened or dormant follicles can be coaxed back to life and hair production; dead ones are just that: dead. 🙁

For those of us who have noticed thinning or have any suspicion that it will happen to us because of lovely genetics, it’s absolutely essential that we take action now.

We are lucky we live in a time and age when there are so many incredible hair loss treatments for women.

Hairmax LaserBand 82: Does it really work?

The science says YES.

Worth Noting:

As is true with Rogaine and even most hair loss supplements, you will need to use the laser indefinitely. Good thing ye olde 82 comes with such a terrific warranty – 5 months window to return!

At this time, in spite of all of our incredible science and technology, the only permanent solution for hair loss is surgical. Hair loss surgery is a mixed bag for many reasons.

Speaking only for myself, I can always see when someone has hair plugs. I have also seen scalps where the procedure didn’t take and the patient is basically disfigured forever.

(Worth going down that google image wormhole, if you need to see what I’m talking about with hairplugs gone wrong.)

WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE:

Treating your hair loss and protecting your hair is a long-term commitment.

You have a choice: do nothing and simply accept that it will continue to thin and fall out, or do something today to arrest the hair loss and turn the tide toward regrowth.

HairMax LaserBand 82: Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

If you are intrigued by cold laser therapy but need a lower price point, consider trying a base model laser comb by HairMax (those start at $199).

If you are still put off by the price point for the LaserBand 82, here’s a challenge:

  1. Go through your statements and receipts and add up all the $ you’ve spent on shampoos, supplements, sprays, and other hair loss treatments over the last year.
  2. Is it higher than $800? My money says it is. If you’ve been serious about dealing with hair loss, chances are you’ve spent some serious money trying stuff out.
  3. Take that amount you’ve spent and multiply it by the amount of years remaining in your lifespan.
  4. NOW, compare that amount to the upfront one-time cost for a high-quality laser device. See which option makes more sense?

I know that may sound grim, but the reality is that any of these hair loss treatments have to be continued indefinitely for most of us.

Do you have any experiences with the HairMax Lasercomb 82, the 41, or any other cold laser therapy device for hair loss? I’d love to hear about your experiences: please leave a comment!

  1. Well, that’s interesting! I know several people who could benefit from this, if it actually works.
It is great that you have dedicated a website to this matter. Hair loss is a big deal for women.
    Thank you!

    • Yes, please pass on the info! And I agree, hair loss is a serious issue for women, and luckily there are tools to combat it now.

  2. This looks like an excellent product, 5 month warranty too! Especially for the indefinite use it offers.

I like the fact that you can save a lot of money the. going to a doctor reoccurring, it’ll save a lot of money! Thank you for the great article!

    • Thanks for the great feedback, Jeremy! I agree, this is a long-term solution and I suspect users will find they are saving money without spending on everything else (lotions, potions, & pills).

  3. Well I am very curious about this Lazer unit The Hair max Lazer Band. Does it irritate the scalp with prolonged use and how often can you use it? This week the Lupus has been kicking my butt and I have been losing a lot of hair. I would love to give it a go but that price is definitely holding me back. I will be checking into it further before I make a decision.
Great article, well written and packed full of information. Girl, you sure do your research. Thank you for the information and the great tips you always give us..

    • Thanks for the great feedback, Deborah!

Definitely do your own reading and looking into it, this is a major expense but these helmets are life/hair saving for people who use them.

  4. I’ve never heard of this kind of hair treatment before. That’s pretty amazing. I really have a lot of questions to ask like…is it stationary or do you move it around? How does it reach the back of your head? But I’m getting ready to head over to their website and read up on it. The google image wormhole you mentioned will have to wait until tomorrow..I’ve got to be up at 4 a.m…so….no images of bad hair plugs in my dreams tonight! Thanks for all the info–this definitely seems like a great investment!

    • Hahahaha, yes I’m glad you are protecting your sleep by not looking up all the hair plug fails!
You do move the laserband to the different regions of your skull during the treatment, it’s pretty easy and provides full coverage.

  5. Thanks Penelope for this review. I’ve been looking into the Laserband and just wanted look into some more reviews.
The products you have recommend in the past have all been very successful for me so I’m going to take the plunge and purchase this.

  6. Even though I am 21, I am balding and, as I age, I expect it to get worse. It is worrisome to me. This looks like a great option to deal with it. Girls do not like bald guys. 🙁

Unfortunately, I do not have much money, so it not something I can consider. But I have a question though, do you know of any do-it-yourself home options that could get the same result or is that unfeasible? Thank you in advance and I hope you have a great day!

  7. Is it a new tech for hair?
In Taiwan, there is no any introduction about this product.
I will share your product with my friends and family.
    Thank you.

  8. Hi Penelope. Woe, what an amazing product!! I really need a hair max laser band in my life. I have thinning hair which I am sure is hormonal so I have a question, will this band work for this particular problem? If you think so then I will probably buy one after Christmas. I think I should take action now like you say. Thanks

    • You should definitely use this product while your hair is thinning and shedding vs. after being bald for many years. When your hair is thinning, that’s the window to jump in to the rescue of those struggling follicles! Low laser light therapy is a new and superb tool to revitalize the scalp. thanks for reading!

  9. wow this looks awesome! i never even knew that anything like this could ever exist! my mum is actually going through menopause at the moment and she has thin hair anyway but she was saying her hair seemed to be very dry and a lot more breakable, this could be a potential for the christmas stocking!
and love the free gift too!

  10. For me to pay all that money on a machine to help my receding hairline I would have to test it out first or see actual proof that it works. I’m not saying it doesn’t work, it’s just a lot of money to pay out on something that I’m unfamiliar with. How can you convince me that this is the machine for me?

    • There is plenty of science and clinical trial evidence on their website, I would encourage you to poke around there and read more of the nitty gritty, going beyond what I summarized in this review.

If you’re starting to lose your hair, you have a precious window of time to save it while your follicles are still weak but not dead. Why not just cut to the chase and buy the best technology on the market from the most reputable hair laser manufacturer on the market? I think that speaks for itself!

  11. This is amazing! Laser technology has come a long way and now it appears to be a crucial helper with hair loss prevention. What is so great about the Hairmax laser-band is that it comes with free gifts that actually help the process. I never realize how much money is spend on hair care products on a yearly basis (your challenge is an eye opener) and a coupon is always welcome.
I was wondering if this product works on all kind of hair including African American?

    • Yes, laser technology works on all kinds of hair! Unlike some chemical-based products or serums, the laser doesn’t have a different effect – for the laser, hair is hair. Thanks for the great comment and I agree, the free gift is a great bonus.

  12. Penelope,
This seems like a good deal if you are in the early stages of hair loss. It will cost less than having lug or other things at the hair loss clinics. Being able to do this at home will be an advantage also.
I know that almost any product will have to be used for the rest of your life, can you do a cost comparison of some products for maybe 10 and 20 years. The Laserband 82 has a high up front cost, how does it compare to using other products at there cost per month over a longer time.
    John

    • Thanks for the question! Minoxodil is about $40/month, and so if that’s the only thing you use, it would take a couple years to even out with the cost of the Hairmax. However, the Hairmax would then be the cheaper option assuming the patient continues to use it on an ongoing basis, for many years (likewise, you have to use Rogaine indefinitely). When you factor in things that people use in combination, like shampoos and supplements, it is very easy to spend in excess of $300/month on hair loss products. For these people, what this means is the Hairmax LaserBand would pay for itself in no time.

  13. I honestly think this is a great deal. What do you have to lose? Love how it offers the 5th month guarantee policy and even a 2 year warranty. And not to mention the free gifts! Definitely something worth trying. My sister’s hair has been thinning pretty bad recently. She hasn’t done much to do anything about it. I think I will direct her to your site. I think she would find a lot of the products you recommend useful!

    • Thanks for sending your sister here! Really, these puppies work on anyone, male or female, losing hair – she’s got nothing to lose except more of it!

  14. Interesting device, didn’t know there was such a thing until now! I like that it comes with a gift as well as a discount coupon. I’d be interested to see feedback from anyone here who tries it.

    • Yes, I’m considering trying this one myself since I’m so curious about these laser helmets. I do have a laser comb and it helps, but I’m pretty sure I’m lazy enough to require the helmet, so I can set it and forget it!

  15. oh very interesting, i haven’t had read about it before. You shared a very good information with us. Its really useful for many people, especially for mums as they go through hair fall after kids. i am also gonna try this as i am also facing this problem. Great post!!!

    • Hi Sarah – Yes, this is an excellent device for women with post-partum hair loss. Especially with a baby to care for, you need as many hands-free options as possible! thanks for reading 🙂

  16. Wow, isn’t technology amazing these days!
I know of several people with hair loss for unknown reasons who could sure benefit from this product, and I will for sure pass along this info.
For myself, I went “no poo” a couple of years ago and have never looked back!

    • No Poo rocks, right? When I’m in a good place with my hair growth or when my scalp gets irritated, I go no-poo and get back on track. unfortunately, I need all those juicy DHT blockers that appear in my various lotions and potions…people with thyroid disorder (me) have even more DHT floating around, wrecking our hair.

thanks for passing info along about the HairMax!

  17. Wow. I didn’t know there were so many options for me! As I said before, I’m losing my hair, and I’m embarrassed. I’m going to look into this.

  18. Wow, this is totally new information for me. Never thought I will find a device that helps you to regrow your hair. Guess technology has no bounds. I will be checking up this product soon. Thanks for bringing it to notice.

  19. Wow! Very informative article! I learned so much reading this!

Thank you for writing it and providing multiple options!

    Much love,
    Becca
